L'idéologie antispéciste s'oppose à une division des êtres par espèces. Il ne doit y avoir d'exploitation de l'homme sur l'animal et chacun doit bénéficier de la même considération morale. Les activistes antispécistes tentent de sensibiliser les publics, de sauver des vies mais aussi de donner vie à l'utopie. Des refuges mettent en place ces micro-sociétés où la vie de chaque individu est traitée à la hauteur de ses particularités. Né de la rencontre avec Jessy, une brebis-citoyenne d'un refuge, Zoopolis Fab & Lab est un projet contribuant à l'instauration de cette cité idéale.
Bien qu'ayant été exfiltrée du système productiviste, Jessy garde les séquelles de la domestication : par des années de sélection génétique l'homme a rendu le mouton d'élevage dépendant. Si le mouton sauvage renouvelle naturellement sa laine, le domestique est contraint d'être tondu. Afin que cette laine ne retombe dans l'industrie lainière, les refuges n'ont d'autres choix que de la brûler, de l'entendre dans la forêt, de la donner à un petit artisan ou encore de la céder au tondeur. N'existerait-il pas une alternative valorisant cette laine sans pour autant contredire le combat antispéciste ? C'est la mission que s'est donné Zoopolis Fab & Lab en mettant la laine au service de ceux à qui elle revient de droit tout en constituant un réseau d'entraide entre les refuges.
Zoopolis Fab propose aux sanctuaires de construire des abris pour animaux de ferme adaptés à leurs besoins éthologiques et caractéristiques comportementales : le jeu pour les chèvres, elles peuvent ainsi grimper sur la structure ; l'esprit collectif pour les moutons, le large espace circulaire leur permet de dormir en groupe et la curiosité des bovins est satisfait par une fenêtre. Les propriétés de la laine, thermique et esthétique, sont utilisées pour la construction de cette ville idéale.

The antispeciesist ideology fight against the division of living beings in species. It should not have any traite of animal by human and all should received the same consideration. The antispeciesist campaigners act to alert the public opinion, to save lives but what is more to bring the utopia to life. Some shelters are trying to set up new micro-societies where the life of each individual is considered regarding its abilities. Born thank to the meeting with Jessy, a citizen-ewe of one of this shelter, the project called Zoopolis Fab & Lab wants to contribute to the establishment of this ideal city.
In spite of having been exfiltrated from the speciesist system of production, Jessy keep the consequences of domestication : after years of genetic selection, human managed to make sheeps dependent of himself. If wild sheeps naturally renew their coat, unfortunately the domestic ones need to be shorn. In order to do not surrendered this wool to the industry they are fighting against, the shelters have no other choice than to burn it, to spread it in the forest, to give it to a local handi-craft or even to give it to the shearer in order to pay the sheep shearing. However, would there not be an alternative allowing both to value the wool without disrupting the antispeciesist fight ? That is the mission that Zoopolis Fab & Lab has given to itself : use ethically the wool in order to serve those to whom it should belongs by right while constituting a network of shelters able to help each other.
Zoopolis Fab proposes to the sanctuaries to build shelters for their farm animals. Those are adapted to ethological needs and behavioral characteristics of each animals : goats are playful so they can climb on the structure; sheeps have a collective state of mind, thus the large circular free space allows them to sleep in a group and the curiosity of the cattles is satisfied by windows. The properties of wool, as thermal as aesthetic, have been considered in the developpment of this ideal city.
Zoopolis Lab is a workshop made of debates and experiments in which the issues related to this current Zoopolis are thinking.
